GasLamp Gets Spooky for Halloween

by Karen Parr-Moody 16 Oct 2024

For Halloween, GasLamp’s sellers offer a spook-tacular bounty of decadent décor. Creative finds fill the shelves; shoppers will find everything from a taxidermy bat to decades-old costumes in the merchandise mix. You’ll surely find something to shudder about in GasLamp’s 300-plus booths.

Go for Decades-Old Costumes

GasLamp Too’s booth T-392 displays two vintage costumes – a ghoulish ghost and a creepy kitten ($25 each). These costumes are like new, having been kept in their boxes for decades, and were made in Collegeville, Pennsylvania, by the Collegeville Flag and Manufacturing Company. (Ironically, Dr. Samuel D. Cornish – a dentist – founded this company that made candy-gathering attire). The ghost fits an adult size 12 to 14, and the kitten will fit a small child in the 3- to 5-year range.

 I Spy a Spooky Mouse

Annalee dolls, like this charming mouse, have been handcrafted in New Hampshire since 1934. This hand-painted Annalee “witch mouse” is a must-have for Halloween décor ($30 at Booth T-135). At six inches tall, she will infuse any room with whimsy with her doe-shaped eyes and pink cheeks. Her black dress, made of lace, pairs perfectly with her black hat and tiny pumpkin.

Go for a Glitzy Jack-o’-Lantern

This handmade, one-of-a-kind pumpkin is crafted from vintage jewelry in colorful shades of peach, orange, and emerald ($125 at Booth B-228). Dozens of vintage brooches and earrings comprise a green “stem” and “leaves,” and an array of pumpkin brooches and others form the body. An abundance of rhinestones makes this piece sparkle and shine.

It’s a Devilish Papier-Mâché Basket

This Halloween devil basket is made of papier-mâché in a vintage style ($45 at Booth B-112). From Department 56, a Minnesota company founded in 1976, this devil basket features a wired handle topped by a papier-mâché heart, a hand-painted face, and red and orange glitter galore. The basket measures five by four inches and is ready to serve candy to your favorite little devils.

Decorate with a Diminutive Bat

At GasLamp, shoppers can easily explore the latest trend for Halloween: Decorating with thrifted wall art. This taxidermy bat pinned to a green velvet background fits the trend ($90 at Booth B-136). The bat hangs upside down in a realistic pose, as though asleep in a cave, and is housed in a cream, black, and gold frame.

Take a Sip from Stylish Skulls

These creepy goblets feature a skull held aloft by a skeleton hand (four for $4 each at Booth B-306). A set of four, these goblets will get any Halloween party started.

A Chair Fit for a Haunted Haven

Are you looking for an item of décor that will haunt your haven? This fake fur chair with acrylic legs is it ($545 at Booth T-396). Its sleek design offers an abundance of style and comfort, and the luxurious black fur makes it perfect for a Halloween landscape.
