Chinese Porcelain Alcôve Vase with Stand
Of baluster form, the trumpet neck is applied with mythical beasts, courtly scenes and birds among branches in panels on a background of foliage. This vase carries the reign mark of the Emperor Qianlong who ruled Chinese from 1736 to 1795; however the style of decoration, often referred to as Cantonese, was not introduced until the 19th century. The decoration on this vase has a transfer printed outline, which has then been over painted by hand, this technique was not used until the 20th century. The vase is a grand, large, decorative statement piece.
