Aria Cavaliere of PARLOUR VINTAGE
Q: IF MONEY WAS NO OBJECT, WHAT ANTIQUE OR COLLECTIBLE WOULD YOU BUY RIGHT NOW?
A: If money was no object, I would buy an antique Chinese carved tea table like the one my parents had in my childhood home.
Q: WHAT IS THE MOST GORGEOUS ANTIQUE YOU EVER SAW, IN A PRIVATE COLLECTION, OR EVEN A MUSEUM?
A: Pretty much everything in the Yves Saint Laurent/Pierre Bergé collection.
Q: WHAT SELLS THE BEST IN YOUR BOOTH?
A: I would say it is a fair mix between belts and dresses.
Q: WHAT IS THE MOST INTERESTING STORY YOU KNOW ABOUT ANY OF THE ANTIQUES YOU HAVE EVER HAD?
A: I hold a special place in my heart for the baby grand piano my grandmother bought my dad and forced him to learn to play. If it were not for that piano, my life would probably be very different.
Q: WHAT ANTIQUE TREND DO YOU LOVE RIGHT NOW?
A: I will forever love the mid-century trend! I also really love the blend of apothecary items in the home such as bell jars, beakers, etc. My grandparents were in the medical industry so we had a lot of their measuring cabinets and tools around. I think this sparked my fascination for displaying with bottles and objects of a medical nature.
Q: WHAT GENRE OF ANTIQUES DO YOU HAVE AS A COLLECTION?
A: I have a great collection of mid-century furniture and some gorgeous 1970s era prints by David Hamilton and Robert Farber
Q: IS THERE A GENRE OF ANTIQUES OR COLLECTIBLES YOU WOULD LIKE TO COLLECT IN THE FUTURE?
A: I would like to begin a collection of Art Noveau pieces.
Q: WHAT ANTIQUE ERA DO YOU NOT LIKE?
A: It is not so much an era as an object, Tiffany Lamps do nothing for me.
Q: ARE ANTIQUES A GOOD INVESTMENT? WHY OR WHY NOT?
A: I think antiques are definitely a good investment. As a vintage/used clothing seller, antiques and vintage not only have a certain charm, they were also constructed to last. I believe that is why the value on these objects only increase because they are durable and timeless.
Q: HAVE YOU EVER RECYCLED OR UPCYCLED AN ANTIQUE/VINTAGE ITEM?
A: I have recycled many items. My favorite being my Mid-century aluminum chairs saved from Goodwill.
